  From You To YOUTUBE:

Nowadays, anyone can pick up a camera and make a movie.  Only a few can make a great one.  From You to YouTube is an intensive hands-on summer workshop for young adults in writing, shooting, directing, editing and even distributing your own work.

Have an idea already?  Bring it to class and workshop it.

Need an idea?  Discover it here.

This class teaches concepts of story and structure, how to use a camera for your own shoot, shows the basics of film editing theory & technique, and how to compress your final product down to size to share on the web.

Designed to create a fun and exciting learning atmosphere, class is divided into small crews of writer/directors.  In week one you tackle writing, camera instruction, and pre-production.  Then it’s two solid days of shooting films.  The week ends with screening dailies and an introduction to editing.

In week two you will learn how to use Final Cut Pro and how to streamline your post-production workflow.  With an emphasis on the creative aspects of storytelling, we will look at films to understand the “why” of editing in addition to just the “how.”  Each student has their own fully equipped, state-of the-art editing system and access to cameras and equipment for their shoots.

You’ll leave the class with a developed sense of how to make films, and a final product on DVD to prove it.

This workshop is intended for young adults, ages 12 - 18, with a working knowledge of Macintosh computers and a passion for filmmaking.

Two Week Intensives are from 10am - 5pm. Upcoming Class Dates:

August 3 - August 14

August 17 - August 28.  Course cost: $2,000 For more information or to register go to www.mewshop.com.
