FCP 200: Begins September 14th

This five-day workshop highlights the entire feature set of Final Cut Pro. This course is designed for those seeking an in-depth understanding of Final Cut Pro’s technical capabilities. Students will also have the opportunity to cut a sample narrative project to learn the creative aspects of editing and emulate real-world workflow situations. Topics include basic set-up, customizing preferences and settings, capturing video and audio, editing and trimming techniques, ripple, roll, slip and slide tools, audio editing, time re-map, motion titles, clip speed, militia, media management, as well as finishing and title creation using Live Type, and final output. Apple Pro Certification available for this course. Week Intensives are 10am-6pm, Monday through Friday. DVDSP September 5th and 6th

This two-day hands-on course delves into the world of DVD authoring using DVD Studio Pro. In this comprehensive course students learn everything they need to create a professional DVD. This course guides students through every aspect of DVD authoring, from initial storyboarding to burning and replication. Using compelling media and a real-world production workflow, students learn how to create amazing MPEG 2 video with Compressor as well as how create eye-popping motion menus directly in DVD Studio Pro. Students also “author” a DVD by creating buttons, interactive links, slideshows, playlists and even adding alternate audio stream and camera angles. Weekend intensives are from 10am-6pm. Masterclass: After Effects August 22nd

We are running another session of our ever popular Masterclass: After Effects on August 22nd. In this intensive, one-day course taught by Marcus Geduld , we'll tour the major features of Adobe After Effects. After learning the interface, we'll dive into importing assets and timeline animation. We'll round out the morning with effects, nested timelines and rendering. After lunch, we'll launch into some of AE's advanced features, such as Bezier masks, chroma keying, text animation and some advanced effects. By the end of the day, you'll know After Effects well enough to get tons of real-world work done. You'll also leave with a list of resources you can use to gain further knowledge and take your After Effect's work to the next level. Topics Include: The Interface. Importing assets. Well we have it! Coming up on August 15-16 we have Avid 101 A and then Avid 101 B hitting on August 22-23. Learn the full Avid 101 curriculum over two consecutive weekends. Avid 101 A : August 15-16 Cost: $1000 This is a two-day weekend course that introduces the concepts of nonlinear editing and includes all basic features of the Avid Media Composer system for Macintosh. Session time is divided between demonstration and hands-on practice, with ample time for experimentation with sample SD and HD material. Where are they now? Heather Smith

Heather Smith is a graduate from our October 2007 Six Week Intensive course. Shortly after graduation she move to LA to work for Madison Road where she worked as a digitizer and logger on a show called Big Shot Live. After a year she decided it was time to return to New York. She's only been here nearly a year and a half and has already worked for Lost Planet , Outpost Digital , Thornberg and Forester and NBC . It's been here in New York where she's been able to assist in the creative world of editing, which is her favorite part! She's currently working as an assistant editor on Discovery Channel's Storm Chasers , where on occasion you may even catch a glimpse of her lovely face on the show! She also enjoys assisting because of the technical elements utilized. MEWSHOP prepared her for the world of editing in the perfect way. Color Correction Masterclass *This Saturday* August 8th
