VIDEO: Cinematographer Paul Koestner Discusses Crafting a Scene Entirely out of Just One Shot

From Sight, Sound and Story: The Art of Cinematography 2015. Recorded live at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway on September 30th, 2015. Paul Koestner has been a cinematographer for over three decades since graduating from one of those film schools nobody in the business cares about. His projects have included features, television series, commercials, industrials, documentaries and webcast series. Paul is perhaps best known through his work with Louis CK, with whom he has collaborated for the last twenty-plus years. Along with the FX Series bearing Mr. CK’s name, the two have worked together on projects such as "The Chris Rock Show," "The Dana Carvey Show," and numerous short-form pieces both personal and professional. Editor Fabienne Bouville, ACE discusses studio notes for "Masters of Sex." Fabienne Bouville, ACE, grew up in a suburb of Paris until age 16 when she moved to Manhattan, where she attended high school, college, and grad school, as well as getting a separate degree in photojournalism. When she was done getting an education and it was time to face the mountain of debt she accumulated, she moved to Los Angeles in hot pursuit of the mighty dollar. This is where she honed her skills as an editor, starting as an assistant on reality shows and slowly finding her way through editing for all different kinds of formats. Behind the Cinematography of the Oscar-Nominated Documentary "Cartel Land"

Cinematographer Matt Porwoll is based in New York City. His most recent work,  Cartel Land , was nominated for a 2016 Academy Award for Best Documentary (feature). Cartel Land was also selected for competition at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and subsequently went on to win the US Documentary Prize for Cinematography. He was one of three speakers on the documentary panel at MEWShop's " Sight, Sound & Story: The Art of Cinematography," 2015  event. We recently caught up with him to ask some in-depth questions about his career and experiences as a cinematographer.
